WHS Officer
Olympic Dam and Port Pirie

ICE Engineering and Construction, part of the E&A Limited group of companies, is a specialist Electrical and Instrumentation Installation company that operates in the Heavy Industrial sectors.

 

Due to operational requirements we are looking for experienced WHS Officers for the day to day monitoring of our site team and processes based at our Olympic Dam and Port Pirie sites.

 

  • Roxby Downs based (12 hr days) and Port Pirie based (11 hr days) 
  • Roster - 10/4 (may vary)
  • Contract for project duration 
  • Reporting to the HSE/HR Manager

 

Key Responsibilities of this role:

 

  • Leadership:

- Be a part of the leadership team to drive and support the Safety Culture of the site
- Adhere to and drive the WHS process in line with our "vision of world class service"
- Represent the company on all WHS matters whilst on site

  • Encouraging a positive Culture of Safety:

- Encourage the prompt reporting of hazards & risks

- Raise management and staff awareness of safety accountabilities & responsibilities
- Assist in the evaluation of auditing and incident investigation procedures

  • Ensuring Workplace Safety:

- Conduct monthly and daily inspections and risk assessments
- Recommend remedies to identified risks & hazards
- Assist in addressing identified actions resultant from Safety Management System and RTW audits at sites as required Liaise with relevant authorities in respect to WHS issues

  • Administration:

- Maintain accurate records and filing systems
- RTW (Self Insured) administration
- Compile, analyse and report work injury statistics

  • Professional Development:

- Keep up-to-date with developments in the WHS field including legislation, regulations, guidelines & best practice

 

The suitable candidate will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in safety, quality and/or environmental science
  • A minimum 3 years experience in construction industry
  • Experience in the implementation of WHS management systems;
  • Demonstrated experience leading a culture where safety comes first;
  • Ability to travel to remote areas as necessary to meet the expectations of the role
  • Experience with Quality Assurance (ideal but not essential)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and be organised
  • Have the ability to build relationships and rapport with others
  • Advanced PC and computing skills (MS Office)
  • Drivers Licence (C Class as a minimum)
  • White Card
